Epidio Quirino

Elpidio Quirino served as the 6th President of the Philippines from 1948 to 1953, assuming the presidency following the death of President Manuel Roxas and later winning the election in 1949. A lawyer and longtime public servant, Quirino led the country during the difficult years of rebuilding after World War II. His administration focused on postwar economic recovery, reconstruction, and restoring peace and stability as the young republic faced major economic and social challenges.

One of the significant milestones during his presidency was the establishment of the Central Bank of the Philippines in 1949, following the passage of Republic Act No. 265, or the Central Bank Act.
