Card Description

The Kingdom of Tawalisi, recorded in the Rihla of 14th-century traveler Ibn Battuta, was described as a powerful maritime realm ruled by a king whose daughter, the warrior princess Urduja, governed the port city of Kaylukari. Ibn Battuta wrote of a warlike society where women rode horses, practiced archery, and took part in warfare. Its military strength included warriors under Urduja’s command and a fleet that operated across the surrounding seas. In Philippine tradition, Tawalisi has long been identified with Pangasinan and remains one of the most remarkable kingdoms described in accounts of the pre-colonial archipelago. The Kingdom of Tawalisi is the Legend card and centerpiece of the Kingdom of Tawalisi set from the Maharlika Series.
